Letting Creation Unfold Through You
“Good morning, God.
What are you up to today?
I’d like to be a part of it!”
Beyond any practice of intention or visualization, the most powerful way you can manifest the life of your dreams is by surrendering the outcome entirely. This may sound counterintuitive, but the truth of the matter is that God has a larger intentionality for us that is grander and more powerful than anything we could imagine on our own. Nature’s plan for us is nothing short of our total fulfillment in every way. And when we let go of the reins, we give the universe freedom to allow its grandest plan to unfold through us.
When you approach life from this place of surrender, it offers you a flexibility that helps you see where there’s a detour instead of sticking rigidly to your original plan.
Now this does not mean you can’t have goals for yourself or move forward with your own projects. Even in a state of surrender we are called to inspired action. The difference is simply that on an energetic level, you are releasing your grip on the outcome. It’s the difference between sending in an application for a job and refreshing your email every 30 minutes to see if they’ve replied versus sending in the same application and knowing in your heart that if it’s meant to be, it will be. You may still follow up with a call or even pay an in-person visit to connect with the hiring manager. But it is always with the understanding that you’re simply doing your part for creation to work through you.
While surrender may sound like an intimidating concept, it can actually be quite simple. All it requires is a practice of noticing where your resistance is and offering yourself a gentle reminder to trust in the greater plan—and a willingness to do this over and over and over again. For most of us, this is how it happens—not in a grand moment of relinquishing control, but in many tiny moments of surrendering and then surrendering again. We let go of one area of control only to notice another place where we are still holding it. And little by little, layer by layer, we move from our ego driven minds and into a place of opening to revelation.
To bring more surrender into your life, ask yourself the following questions:
Where am I trying to control the outcome?
Is there something I am resisting because it involves a degree of uncertainty?
Could I allow myself to accept that discomfort and move forward through it, trusting that all of the greatest things in life lie just beyond my comfort zone?
What feels like a roadblock in my life right now? Could I allow myself instead to see it as a detour, trusting the path to take me where I need to be?
To align with that greater intentionality of the universe, you may also try this simple morning prayer from Hilda Charlton, who I consider a dear teacher of mine:
Good morning, God.
What are you up to today?
I’d like to be a part of it!
As always, be gentle with yourself and enjoy the journey inward.
Lots of love,
