Trusting Unseen Movements
One of the more difficult things we are called to do on our spiritual journey is to let go of the reins and relax into trust—the inner knowing that everything in our lives is happening in divine order, even when we cannot see or understand how.
That trust is especially called into question when we are working to bring a goal or vision for ourselves into our lives. For most of us, the tendency is to want to see our hard work manifested into clear and recognizable order—a linear trajectory that proves our efforts are bringing us in the right direction.
But more often than not, there is a phase in which everything is happening behind the scenes. Just as we see in nature during the winter months, things may appear dead and lifeless on the surface. Meanwhile, underground is a profound movement in preparation for the time ahead. It feels like nothing is happening until the moment comes, and all of a sudden, life bursts into bloom.
This process calls us deeper into the practice of trust. To rest in the knowing that behind the scenes, mountains are being moved to clear the path and lay the foundation for us to step into our fullness. These unseen movements are made visible when the time is right, but are always there, taking place continuously to bring us toward our ultimate growth and fulfillment.
To explore your own relationship with trust, try asking yourself the following questions:
Where in my life do I struggle to let go and trust?
Is there anywhere in my body I can feel the tension of control being held?
How can I continue to take steps of inspired action toward my goal while also relaxing my grip on the outcome?
